It’s Fur Coffee

That is the answer you would get if you asked someone what the sugar and cream is for next to the coffee pot.  “Fur”.  I’ve noticed that an overwhelming number of people, including myself, pronounce “for” as “fur”.  I wonder how we’ve come to use the word like that.

It does seem like “It’s fur coffee” is slightly easier to say than “It’s for coffee”.  So maybe it’s a result of pronunciation laziness?
